Te Jay McGrath is the recipient of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Award for Health Equity Award
This award is given to an individual who distinguishes themselves in the following ways:
- Nominee’s work shows alignment with Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s vision for building a Culture of Health and achieving health equity.
- Nominee’s work demonstrated success to change systems that impact health outcomes in one or more of the following areas: access to quality care, education, employment, income, community environment, housing, and public safety.
- Nominee’s work provided a solution to improve outcomes for groups most affected by health disparities.
- Nominee’s successfully implemented a systems change approach to reduce health disparities within the past two years.
Now, let’s learn a little bit more about Rockstar, Te Jay McGrath!
Te Jay McGrath, originally from Aiea, Hawaii, has been working for the City of Pasadena’s Public Health Department since 2016. Over the years, his focus has been with young adult outreach services, specializing with youth that identify as LGBTQ+ and youth experiencing homelessness.
Te Jay started the first Southern California chapter of Youth MOVE National in 2017, and now serves as the Program Coordinator for the TAY Link program, a 4 year grant project funded by the Los Angeles Department of Mental Health that provides Transitional Age Youth linkage services, in which he helped launched from day one. He is currently finishing his degree in Hospitality Management and also performs as his drag persona, Tia Wanna.
